So many things to say... at first I was just going to draw her character, Kurohasu, the rhinoceros beetle. But then I ended up drawing another character of her's, Nae, the the orchid mantis. Then I got carried away and drew a mushroom enemy.... then I had an idea to put them in a battle sequence.... then I had to draw a background. I really do apologize for taking the characters out of context! I was just trying to be silly, hence the samurai mushrooms.

I've been wanting to draw Kurohasu for a little while, though at the time I hadn't switched over to my new drawing style just yet. So I waited out on it, and tried to get at least a little bit better as I went.

Next, I guess the background needs explaining. Yeah, it's mirrored, and those branches are connecting, and yes I planned it to happen. It seemed pretty cool to have trees connect and arch like that. I actually intended them to be curving birch trees, but I ultimately dropped that to spare me from all the detail I'd have to put in... laziness. Backgrounds still scare the crap out of me.
