That's stock Ubuntu 13.10 with Unity. I'd be using Gentoo with ROX but something went wrong... It's happened to other people but I don't know how/if they fixed it... Also you can get Distros with GNOME 2.

I don't know that much about Ubuntu, just that even tho my version is outdated, it still works.
I never even booted my new netbook. First thing I did after taking it out of the box was open
it and swap hard drives. Put the "never activated yet" Win-7 drive in the closet for safe keeping.
The Ubuntu drive went in and after a few terminal commands, the wireless works and I'm happy!

Careful... *NIX systems do weird thing when they age... Most the time you won't even know until it's to late.

Oh, and by the way... I think we ALL have a dirty plate where our computer is lol

moreless i dunno if ill ever get off any OS other than a debian based one, dont get me wrong unity, is meh, and ubuntu is more meh, but, im so used to debian at the moment that i dont really want to swap to anything else.

Hehehe! I'm the opposite. Just a few hours to learn a new OS... Other than MacOS, I just don't get that one.

that hasnt been an issue for me, I have ubuntu on it atm, just, touch support is very poor.

Did you try reconfiguring the kernel?
