Yeah I definitely agree. I feel that way especially wirh charcoal on a large drawing space, since that allows me to move my whole forearm and make curves from the elbow rather than be restricted to a turning wrist. I don't actually have to much digital experience though outside of design so I plan on exploring that more in the future as well.
Traditional just gives you the freedom of working with a large drawing space for way less money than purchasing large digital drawing tablets. Even then you can buy bigger paper. Digital art can pull off some neat tricks, though. There are even free digital programs like MyPaint that simulate pencils/charcoal quite nicely, and would be worth looking into.
