"Only the Lalafell guard clad in steel remained focused on the child, who now crept like a beast toward the terrified and retreating girl. In desperation he threw himself between the bizarre assailant and the one he was sworn to protect. He grappled with the child trying his best to subdue the seemingly possessed youth, mercy for him as his lady would command, such as she was. Forever would he regret his presumption, for as he grappled he remained blind to what occurred around him. One by one the guards fell to the brutal beasts, who suffered naught a scratch for their triumph. Only their duty and her knight now remained, and the later soon discovered his error, entangled with the snake of a child he watched as the beast man horde took his lady. Desperation turned to panic as with a hiss, the iron fang of his blade bit into his burden, but it was too late. He was weighted down by armor, fatigue, and the slow and gripping realization that a child’s blood, possessed as he may have been, was now soaking his sword. His prey was bigger, faster, and fresh, with only a small Lalafell girl to burden their steps. He had no hope, no chance, he had failed. He stumbled with a clang roughly to his knees, the baking blood tormenting him as he gazed up at the laughing sun, too dry to shed the tears his heart longed to shed."
