As it turns out, this is Kel's Guardian's first chance at being a Guardian, but the poor otter doesn't quite have the hang of it yet. Apparently it's a much more difficult job than it seems. (on a side note, this new Guardian's name still has not yet been revealed -- 50 points to whoever guesses it!)
Also, I realized while drawing this page on Livestream that it had been a long time since I had the worms appear in the comic. I didn't realize just how long, though -- Whitney pointed out that they've been absent ever since the last Ghost Hunters story arc, which was published on the site five years ago.
Geez. I need to use these little guys more!

A bit of backstory: both Kel and his Guardian are characters who came from the top reward tiers of the Kickstarter. Two friends each donated the top amount to be able to create a character in the comic. When they gave me Kel's name, my first thought was the exact same as yours, to which I was told "....... no."
So the short answer is no, it's not Kenan.
