Depends what you're comparing it to! I don't think I've been doing it differently all too recently, but could be I just used a brighter pink for the hair compared to usual which makes it pop.
Doodles sort of vary with colouring. They're meat to be quick, so sometimes, like in this image, I use different colours to make them pop more. But some doodles are quicker and I use just one colour to shade the whole thing, which will mute some colours. (example, blues and purples look fine on yellows and orange, but it'll pop much more if you use a bright colour, like pink).

I don't mind, but I'd warn to be careful. It is extremely easy to become just a copy of another person, and this is no fun for anyone, yourself included. I've been there before, and when I realized, it made me really depressed, since art was important to me, I wanted to be my own thing. It's really easy to get stuck in that hole and absolutely not realize. Not only that, but you'd end up learning their mistakes. I need more diversity in my art really!
One of the best things you can do is reference read animals though c: Or at the very least reference many artists, it's more so so easy to get stuck when it's just one. Your art is looking super cute so far! If you do ever have questions, even about this, do feel free to ask, I try my best to answer. Notes is best though.

My art is also influenced heavily by my manga. I try not to copy anyone's style exactly for two reasons: It NEVER turns out the same, and I didn't come up with. Your style influences me, but it's also influenced by Takeshi Obata's, and of course, myself. Sorry if I sounded like I was trying to copy your style, I didn't mean it to sound like that, it just motivates me to be better.

It's just something I like to warn about, as, when it happened to me I honestly had no idea. The reason was because my art, in my eyes, could NEVER be as good as the person I look up to. Couple years later, when I look back at that art, I can see how it's pretty much a copy, because I've now grown and gotten better. So that's sort of why I warn people, since it's just so easy not to realize.
And no no, it didn't sound like you were copying, and your art certainly doesn't look like it! Reason above is why I said such c:
