[Personal] Writing - Taker Spirit
Just a short scene I wrote, a bit of brain vomit I had one night. Didn't seem to get any further past this scene. It all felt dry. So I left it as is.
I'm glad I wrote it, though. It was fun to write again, if only a little.

Screeching of nails on rough stone and the trail of white glow thereof greet the ears of the trembling fool. A grin flashed and he cowed all the more, whimpering in fear.
"No-no, old man. Our terms were clear. Now, or else. You've got minutes 'til curfew," rasped the approaching spirit, not more than a silhouette, vaguely humanoid. Sickly green eyes narrowed in sick elation at the cowering aged human before itself. "Oh yes, I've waited a long time to collect you."
A strangled moan of agony escaped him as he clutched frantically at his hair, as though hanging on to himself would ground him and save him from his expiration. The pathetic creature broke into sobs, doubling over, already kneeling on the ground. "No... no-h-hoh-hoooh..." he croaked, body wracking with shudders.
"Mmm, a beautiful night, don't you think?" comments the spirit, gesturing to the dark night sky, to the waning moon, and creeping clouds shrouding the twinkling points of light. "You couldn't have picked a better time to make a covenant, to wind up on a night such as this. It's too bad you couldn't find a suitable replacement for yourself. I'm sure your pretty daughter would have been a fine soul as well, perhaps better."
"Leave her out of this..." the man spat at the creature, that last ounce of will flickering and faded but not all gone in the face of his taker.
The spirit rose his arms and splayed his fingers. "Suit yourself. Not sure why you value your offspring so much over your own life. Silly humans. You can make more."
The spirit flashed another blood curdling grin and knelt down, reaching forward, the man scuttling backwards a bit in response.
"Now," the spirit purred. "Bottoms up..."
