This started out as a basic sketch of Lurigo in my little sketchbook. Never really thought of taking it further than that.
That is, until I watched one of my favourite artists livestream. I was suddenly inspired and simply had to do something. After scanning the sketch, I tried to digitalize it. But, I haven't picked up my Wacom in months, so I could barely even do lineart. Instead, I tried a whole new way of doing lineart (with a mouse, believe it or not), partially inspired by the livestream. Turns out, it looks freaking cool! I did it like that and and added flatcolouring before moving over to SAI to add shading with the Wacom. I wanted to keep it simple, but... I tend to go overboard usually. So screw simplicity!
My favourite part is that G36. It came out way better than I expected! And those shoes... (which I own IRL actually) I also decided to throw the boring transparent background out of the window again, and tried to make a basic one, supposed to resemble a bunker of some kind.
Also, I made a new signature for 2014!! Look at it! So edgy and blue!
So yeah, here's Lurigo, patrolling some bunker from I dunno who.

Very awesome indeed. :o The mix of super clean lines and that level of detail and shading, particularly on the jacket and trousers (which look really life-like with those folds), just really brings this scene and Lurigo to life. Your new technique is definitely a total success :)
