Well your art is top notch SB but I gotta say I am on the fence about the new format. I understand, to a degree, for the change but it sorta feels like less of a comic now. Now I do enjoy narrative pictures like this so I'm sure it will grow on me since I got the imagination to fill in the gaps. But not everyone will feel the same and may take away something less from it.

Still, I look forward to more.

This is honestly great. I love the comic format, but I know how time-intensive it can be to produce; the story is enough fun that I would rather see a lovingly-detailed image like this with a lot more plot advancement than a comics page can provide.

Agreed! Comics are certainly nice for such a visually inspired story, but I think children's book style "story + illustration" can work very well, too!
I always like the occasional images you have accompanying your own story, hehe.

I don't know about this. I'm with redmoonwatcher on this. It feels like it a little different from the usual. Also I feel like your doing this in order to get over with and are not having fun doing this. If the commissioner likes, then that how should they go through it. But really you want out of certain type of thing; and really at this point maybe it should be commission as story and not comic or this style. It feels like a picture book. And that is why it odd to some, but I'll wait and see how this goes. But I'm more it should go one or another, and not bad mash-up of things. But I'll wait and see how this goes.

I know some people won't like it as much, but for me, as an artist who doesn't offer comic/inked page commissions any more, it's this or nothing. I do still enjoy doing these, I don't enjoy doing comic pages, and draco did tell me, and I understand, that if he wants normal comic pages again he might just go to another artist to get those, and that's fine too!

I'm not really getting that, because that was just lineart and this was a finished picture.

Well, because that is drawing 6 or so compositions and characters instead of 1. It takes me the same amount of time to draw the sketch for something like this as it does to draw a sketch for a single panel of a comic, so I'm already coloring this by the time I'm starting the sketch on the second panel of a comic, and I could finish coloring this before I finished the sketches for all the panels and inking for all the panels.

However, that wasn't the issue. I've been doing these as I've been commissioned for them, draco just didn't have the money to buy more pages for long lengths of time.
