In space, no-one can see your adverts...
A collage of mock advertisements I made for the space-trading game "Oolite", intended for use with an expansion pack that places advertising billboards on navigation beacons and space-stations. The bulk of these are based on the NZ Tui beer "Yeah, right" advertisements, with "Tui" being replaced by "Ratitige" as this world in-game is inhabited by black birds...
Some explanations:
* The "Anaconda" vessel in the core game is a large, slow, unmanoeverable heavy trader that has been described as "the long slow pointy asteroid" and "the piñata of the spaceways". Think racing an 18-wheeler against a sports car. Or a minibus.
* The "Adder" vessel in the core game is a small trading vessel with one energy bank, one missile pylon and one gun mount. Think going after criminals armed with a pocket-knife.
* Riedquat is an Anarchy system teeming with pirates, while a pulse laser isn't much more offensive than harsh language.
* Yes, some Oolite systems are inhabited by variations of "edible poets". Or "edible arts graduates".
* "Esceso is a revolting dump" according to the Galactic Map.
* Trumbles are like tribbles from Star Trek: exponential population growth in the presence of a food supply. In Oolite, their unchecked breeding will eventually completely obscure your viewscreen - and the only way to get rid of them short of abandoning ship is to make a mass barbecue of the damn things. Pass the tomato sauce, please.
