While the romance is nice, the premise that Gilda is the bad guy kinda ruins it. Such things say to me that ponies can do whatever they want to her and if she stands up for herself then she is terrible, which itself is horrible given she was being antagonized by Pinkie all day so she had good reason to believe Pinkie was trying to ruin things and make her look terrible/humiliate her.
