The one on the left looks like the medal the Saudi Arabian Government gave to all soldiers who took part in Desert Shield (to block Saddam from invading Saudi Arabia after he invaded Kuwait). The one on the right would be the Desert Storm medal.

I know a very nice and beautiful young lady at my university who is from Kuwait but lives and attends college in the United States. She, and I suspect most of her family as well, were under no illusions about the awful nature of the Hussein regime and the horrors Saddam and his madmen inflicted upon the people of Kuwait before the Coalition drove them out.

I understand the controversy that surrounds the Gulf War and its far more murky successor conflict, but the campaign in Kuwait was undoubtedly a great and fine thing for the Kuwaiti people.
