been with shotokan for a little over a year now and have my 4th kyu exam tomorrow, so been going kinda fast at it, practise 4x a week though, may i ask where you practise?

Yes, I understand that no everybody like martial arts but cmon!! Kung fu is from China and Karate from Japan is not that hard xD
Yes, its quite a difference, is not better than Shotokan, just different, let me explain, Shorinryu is " soft karate " that means that It has more tecniques based on speed and power than Shotokan that is more based in Power and force (Again im not saying that Shorin is better, just different) also don´t know the origins of Shotokan but Shorinryu was born in the islands of Okinawa and NOT in japan, so is a very traditional Karate linked to the practice of zen and meditation.
Awesome! you know, theres no magic trick to learn karate Its all about practice practice practice !! I´veen practicing for 4 years now under the teachings of One of the original students of this style creator, the Head representative of Latin American branch of Shorinryu sensei Akamine.

Oh I almost forgot to write that I practice in a Dojo close to where I live, in Argentina :)
