This is the shell backpack I've been working on to accompany my fullsuit for Elbi I'll be finishing in the next few weeks. I really wanted the shell to be functional from the get-go, but during my first suiting experience at Furfright with her 3/4 suit, I realized water was even more important than typical item storage. So I bought a Camelbak bladder and sewed this little sucker to try and take the edge off hydrating in suit!
Lots of nifty little custom stuff here, I made the shell design with stuffing, so it sticks out from my back like hers would, then I sewed an interior pocket for the water bladder that compensated for the weight near the bottom. I also made an opening for the water tube in the middle so gravity wouldn't play a nasty trick and make it end up leaking on me.
The straps have clips so I can hide them when I'm wearing the fullsuit, they also work for quick release, just in case I need to get it off quickly for any reason.
the tube can just tuck in once the bag is on against your back, and can be pulled out when needed. I don't mind that it sticks out. I planned on putting ice in the bladder, so it functions as a water source, AND a cooling device.
All handsewn, and it's not perfect, but it works great for what I need it for and should photograph well with the suit.

I'm definitely thinking about it. I have to redo the pattern, cuz the one I had for this one ended up falling apart and I made a ton of adjustments. But I'm looking into possibly doing a more typical turtle-shell style one for commissions eventually, with a bigger pocket for more stuff.
