I was thinking about Ryukin goldfish, and how their spine shape makes them look like they've got a chubby belly, and the idea of a chubby goldfish mermaid came to mind. Did this one in class, so I only had graphite and red pencils, and pens on hand, so a limited palette, but i think it works well. quite happy with the tail, it's always a bit of a challenge to get those facing the correct way for a fish (lateral motion) without looking awkward.
