I was a bit confused what the song was generally about, but overall I felt it was about coming to terms with yourself after someone's left you (hinted at moreso in the video), and letting the momentum of the world remind you that although it sucks, that the world is a beautiful place and that being happy is worth letting go.
Obviously the appropriate symbolism for that is swimming your way down a dream whirlpool and looking at pretty turtles.
