
Phew! I managed to finish one last painting for the FC artshow this weekend, hurray.
This is another painting that sat around mostly finished for several months (more like a year in this case), and this afternoon I had the sudden stroke of inspiration to finish it for good.
There are definitely things and approaches I would have done differently if I were doing this piece from scratch today.. but, I also enjoyed the challenge of working with older material. It was certainly fun to work in a looser style, and I discovered some wet-in-wet techniques I want to play around more with in future pieces.
Oh. And I really like koi. This scene is like a Kio dream come true.

This reminds me of how last night I went to a restaurant where they had very large koi swimming about outside, sit with them long enough and they come up to you and start glubbing and begging for food. It's really cute. You could poke them and most of them wouldn't care.
So this piece gives that same relaxation. :>
