I understand why the trees are the focus on the painting, what with the contrast and all. But I just can't seem to come up with a proper landscape of my own.

Landscapes were always a pain in the neck for me: dealing with color, value, depth of field, bleah!

Yet, these studies into it broaden you as an artist, and if you ever try to find work in the field, look fucking amazing in a portfolio.
