EDIT: shortened neck fur a bit and added in color to show how it will be done. Fur is made by using low opacity brush strokes at a small size and then smoothing with a slightly larger brush, then going back in and making small edits by hand where needed.

My calculator has turned out to be unreliable when it comes to saving my images, periodically wiping everything. Because of this, I am switching over to the computer, though I have to learn how to do everything. This is my first attempt, so I know it probably won't be very good even when finished, but it's a learning process.

I decided that I would practice by creating an icon of my fursona, if he were a feral (not ready to tackle anthropomorphic anatomy quite yet), who is a shiny Eevee.

The tool I am using for this is called GIMP, which was suggested by  kalmaro. I thank him for that.

I'm open to hear any questions/comments/tips from people. After all, that's all part of the learning process. Also, how do I eyes? I think I've spent 15 minutes on them and I'm still not satisfied...

Things to add: Tail, fluffy spots, fur shading, rest of the eyes
