you have such amazing colour coordination. When ever i wanna do a simple background i never know how to just have some colours that compliment the main piece without it looking like i did a lazy job. D: So like kudos to you for your professional colour-theory attributions lol

I think it always helps pull the image together, if you try to find a color already existing on the character. Like for this one, I initially went with a purple background because his horns were purple. It felt like a good neutral color to tie the rest together. Then added in the warmer tones to help balance the colors in his eyes. AHHH I just remember reading something about colors once... it had a background as an example. Forest and one focus with red in it. And the artist said something along the lines of, well, that you don't want to suddenly throw in orange if there is no orange anywhere else. It's best to maybe add some red flowers to help balance the red vocal point against the colors of the forest. That type of thing? goodness, not sure if this helps.

Despite how much I use color, ahah;; I know absolutely nothing about color theory whoops
I can say, if you have photoshop, I would fiddle around with the different adjustment tools sometime. Those really really help me with making colors pop just that extra mile : )

yeah i usually do that when i finish up a picture, it really makes an image pop! : D
