My sister and I have made up a story between the trainers of Pokémon Diamond/Pearl and Heartgold/Soulsilver.
Here is a picture of each of their starter pokémon together.

Personality: Lei is somewhat boisterous and she loves to eat. She also seems to like egging-on P.J., whether to play with him or just to tease him.

Name: Kenna
Species: Chimchar
Trainer: Dawn
Gender: ♀
Nature: Hardy
Personality: Kenna is very observant and loves to play with other pokémon. She gets along well with most pokémon, but especially with Cindy.

Personality: Cindy is very friendly but sometimes nosy as well. She loves to help out with things and hates being ignored.

Species: Piplup

Personality: P.J. is a bit shy and tends to stay close to Lucas a lot. He keeps to himself a lot, but eventually gets used to being around friends.

Yeah these are the ones who walk around out of their pokéballs all the time. The four trainers have other pokémon of course, but these are the main ones- the ones that are always present.
We based the pokémon and their trainers mainly on the games, so we aren't necessarily going to follow characterizations from the anime or anything else.
... Oh and we call them the "Luminous Four" because we needed a collective name for the four of them and their pokémon.
