(Copy and paste explanation: Some years ago I was met in a dream by a family of these silky black creatures, kind of fox-like with their pointed features and slender form, and kind of cat-like, in their demeanor and habit of purring. In the dream, the fur was just slick black, and the eyes were pupil-less and like fire. But not frightening by any means. I've come to think of them as guardians of the dream world, existing in the energies therein.)
