Just my opinion on whats been happening or just some thoughts. not necessarily a rant of sorts.
Its 13 minutes long , So the gist of what I was saying revolves around how I dont understand the defense and the attachment to one site. People on FA are free to stay and continue doing what they do. Its the "you shouldnt leave" or "Cant leave" is what gets me. Many folks need to understand that its just a website. People shoving things under the rug is too common.
I love my base and Invite you to follow me else where. feel free to find me

Its easier to hate and fear, than it is to be honest and be accepting.
Its every ones choice where they set up their page. Its always a choice, and I'm already following people on both sites. You too!
Branching out is a good thing. Having many points of view makes for a better outlook.
choices are always a great thing, and ultimately what each of us have.
So, interesting points you bring up sir. :3

Personally, it bugs me when people are separated like that and if I got a lot of people I like that are moving I'll probably be making new accounts and trying to follow multiple places... But I can probably make that work.
Anyway, I hope all your base sticks with ya Daigo, I know I will. :1

Damn man....this truly defines ideology from the mind.
The whole thing here?
What I can say...the reason why I joined here is that I was
happy that other people had a common interest in what I liked too.
I've had alot of ups and downs while spreading here. Over the years I've made
good friends and tried my best to return the favor despite the things that go on in my real life.
Some came, some went, and others I haven't heard from again, due to unknown reasons.
I still like to try and be creative here.
Then the concept of drama here and there eventually disrupts the peace amongst us.
It can affect people to the point wherew they feel obligated to to try and restore peace the best
way that they can. It doesn;t mean that they want to pursue the probelm to the point of eradicating it, but honestly showing that they care
about what they consider the logical way of dealing with a problem. However when one opinion from there state of mind is
said, things both positive and negative can come soon after. Resulting in what is known as a spread. Like the littlest spark, can set off the biggest explosion.
No matter how small the words come out, it can bring either good or bad, and like a virus, it spreads....and then soon chaos erupts.
I woke up from one afternoon from graveyard work, to find what would ensue. The people that I admire, watch, befriended, known, talked to, and have hanged out with, have gone to the point of rebellion from the powers to be. Everywhere from journals to submissions, it was a madhouse to what can known as a public slaughter. People who once knew each other as a friend, nieghbor, brothers and sisters in arms.....just seemed to turn their backs onto each other from they differences on what thier mindset pursued in logic from a scenario that can overturn anyone. The only thing I could do is ignore it to the point I was on the sidelines, watching as my fellow man was eating each other alive. The only thoughts that went thru my head as it continued since then, "Can peace come back to us?"
Honestly the whole thing to me really was a piece of mind that could be said, but I decided to hold back and just hope that things could go back to the state of mind where people didn;t saw each other as family in the community once again.
I still agree with you man. People will follow as long as you welcome them.
Encouragement towards them to spread their wings is also a way to show them that there is other means to be enlightened.
I mean, doesn't that mean anything to show that you care enough? ;3

D| ... Weasel is how you pronounce it?! I been f'ing wondering how you say taht shizz... @ @;... I been pronouncing it 'Wise-ell' like it was french or somethin! I feel liek Wild~E.~Kay-o-tea...
And yeah, the site migration is nice and all, somewhat something that could help the site become bigger and btetter if... ya know... in one main figure, We could get alittle more feedback on how it's affecting things. Considering your bulk userbase leaving is openly blaming more rounded towards a current issue, and sidebaring the things that need fixing. There's alot of people noting the Staff's Weakness as a problem, but too damn many are willing to just out right say they're leaving cause of some User base fluff that is made publicly attached to 'A' staff member.
This one in general just feels more like People not liking the Staff member himself, not how his work is, or what kinda new founded possiblities will/may come of it. *shrugs if we get that whoel Site work over, that's nice, but Seirously for me, sites fine, they jsut need to work on the Staff issues, and some better... Well let's be alittle more... stright arrow with it...
'Get a PR department together to handle shit like this'... Least of all that would help the 'White-out' issues they've been having. Even if people want Dragoneer to come foward and say soemthing about something, If he's got a PR person to do it for him, less hassle, more Haggle, and he can get a better run down on the situation instead of being the guy stuck in the middle like every time we have one of these.

Well, call me crazy but I find that this website is just a website.
Yes, I come here to watch art, converse with others and the like, yadda yadda yadda. However, This isn't and nowhere near perfect because yes there are things going on in the background. Drama. Better 'hosts'. I kinda don't understand why people 'move' their work rather than leave it open here to archive it, if anything. But I won't mock or degrade their choices because: you do what you do. Choice is one of the biggest things we have, and I'm sure that's the same deal with the whole moving art and, if they plan to, shutting down their user page for the site.
It is great to try and get a new community up and running, especially if people don't like something that's happening in the current community. Change does happen. Sometimes it's fast, but most of the time I've known it to be -very- slow and it's almost painful at times.
Like Doggy-Treat said: Get a PR Dept. together. While they're at it, expand on it with getting a legal department involved as well because at the same time you're going to be dealing with artists that want to make sure their work is safe (Like you mentioned).
If an artist left FA that I liked, go them. That may be what is on the horizon for them to change. Will I follow if they go to another site?
For me, the reason I wouldn't is kinda probably gonna either sound selfish or just lazy, but I'm tired of having to make accounts for this, that, the other thing. It gets tough when you make a different password and keep it stored in something personal with you that isn't digital. But at the same time that's sort of how the internet is, damn thing keeps on growing like a community.
Change is always a good thing, people are always just afraid to welcome it.
People will be grumpy about things, emotional, excited, but the constant is that they show the emotions: positive or negative. Cause that kinda expresses the real emotions and natures of those that we know or think we know so well.
To me: Your opinion is valuable, as it is your own.
To others: Some may agree and others don't.
Everyone has entitlement to their own opinions, but it's what you make of those opinions that really defines you as a person.
...Jeez, someone hit me in the head with the philosophy stick there or something. Long and short of it: Good luck and best wishes and all that Jazz. I'm sure things will always be here cause: It's the internet. At least if FA doesn't implode on itself or the universe suddenly ends all at once. But yeah, people will still be around because we're everywhere.

meh, they are just sites.
though it wouldn't be hard for someone popular to just tell people "i'm leaving and never coming back, here is where i will be from now on"
if they come, they come and if not , i'm sure you will make new fans as well.
after all this site is about art in some form, right?
the drama can die though, it really needs to.
im sick of all the shit it brings, if you have personal shit, put it on twitter or facebook. NOT HERE!

This.
Just. This.
Also: This.
Seriously, I can barely even find anything to add anything to what you said. You said it all.
I find it funny and so damn true that you bring up how some people just want a better site... I am one of those people. There's a whole SLEW of reasons to move somewhere else at this point, but the biggest reason I want to push for Weasyl isn't because of all of the drama; it's because it's not stuck still trying to shake its Y2K design.
If--and I do stress the word IF--project phoenix actually pulls through and brings this site up to speed, then yeah, that will be great. But it's hard to have much hope for it when it's not even the first much-needed redesign to be promised as coming soon.
As a programmer, I just can't stand how stagnant development has been here.

Really like your insight on this topic. Weasyl is a site I need to get an account at. It could be a nice new beginning for me as well. I'm not leaving FA but I want to have another gallery to share and use. Weasyl is taking in a lot of my favorite artists, this includes you. My girlfriend already tried it and says she loves the interface so leaving drama aside, there's a lot of little details about Weasyl that do attract me. I can say one of the big things here is the need to experience a new website for what it could offer. I also have a pixiv account and it has no art in there but I've been pondering if to start posting there... yeah, it's japanese and all but might as well learn some japanese and try :p
I like the points you state and you have given me a few more reasons to get a weasyl. Now... if I weren't this lazy to get to it XD

For those that can't follow I suppose those are the ones that willingly trap themselves on here. People have stated numerous times the reasons why they leave and plenty good reasons why they leave. Everything from the promise of the site remake back in '08 to adding folders to all kinds of drama, just one thing leading to another, the site going down more often than other art sites just makes for a terrific melting pot of problems to make your traffic go elsewhere =/
I will gladly keep with ya on weasyl though Daigo and understand what you are saying :)

I mean the site needs to be fixed but its not. I moved over to SoFurry though i never got rid of my FA and only update when i put something out thats worth putting on here. i often get told "you'll be back" well technically i never left. but the biggest reason i left was what happened last christmas. i was done when that happened i couldnt work on a site that crashes so much.
