...there is darkness.
Nightmares of the past can be a lingering umbra, even should the light of the present be brilliantly golden.
Don't remember exactly when this was finished, but about time I upload it x). Also I promise I will have some colored works soon! I find pencil work to be very cleansing and relaxing so forgive all the b&w pieces!

Edit: One thing I did want to add. The composition is very intentionally meant to look unfinished. It is meant to evoke a sense of dissonance, awkwardness..discomfort..the ill-ease the character portrayed is feeling. At least that is the idea behind it. I know I continued to feel that the composition looked unfinished after I scanned it. I often flip my pieces after scanning to weed out any asymmetry issues..and this one drove me up a wall. BUT something told me, distinctly, it was meant to be left that way..and so I didn't touch it afterwards :}.

You consistently stun me with your works. Whether drawn or painted your talent never ceases to amaze.
This looks like an elven library where Bagheera has come to mull over his own thoughts, only to have someone walk in. Perhaps this intrusion will be welcome, perhaps merely politely entertained. We shall see, or perhaps we will never know. That is up to your talented hand.

I knoooow me tooooo @_@..would be an amazing place to come and read books..or draw...or just sit and look out to the world outside. Even as I drew this I just imagined what he would see out that window...and the warmth of that sun through the panes of hand crafted glass embracing him softly. OH Im such a sucker for these things :B
Would you consider making a version of this for desktop wallpaper use?
I can't tear my eyes from the atmosphere..it's like I'm actually there, watching the afternoon sun bath this room in all it's glory, the weight of old memories like the palpable dust I'd almost expect to see floating if this were real...
Overall, this is a strong composition and a gorgeous theme. I can't get enough! Great job! <3

I suppose if there is some interest I may ^_^! Thank you for the kind words, my black and white pieces tend to be my pride but I often feel sketches are overlooked as unfinished scraps..so I am always hesitant to upload them. Thank you for showing me not everyone sees them that way!
XD Does making it to the front page on DA count as interest? -cheesy grin-
And I do hope it is possible to dissuade that line of thinking - black and white only looks unfinished when the lines are too light to see in the submission thumbnail...XDDD Thanks a ton for deciding to share!
@.@ And, thanks for the watch! I'm undeserving and honoured. <333

wow, this one looks really great!
I love the composition and you gave it a really great atmosphere and softness with your great shading! I really love the way you worked on all the details, and background!
And yes the background is freaking awesome, somehow it gives me warm feeling everytime I look at it, and together the character with the bg just simple fantastic!
Omg I love so much your details, and can't wait to see the colored version of this later or sonner!

This is such a beautiful piece
I don't know that I feel it looks unfinished - I like the way there is space to one side, almost as if there is something we aren't meant to see or know about and it feels as though that was done purposefully. It frames the image really well, even with it only being on one side.
It's great to hear you love using pencil because I love looking at b&w artwork :)

Going through your gallery and found this- I love that simple gray scale can give you so much more than color can. This piece looks great in it's unfinished style, almost as if you are to never see the end of where the room is going or to allow you to fill in the blanks yourself. The detail is amazing.
Your pencilwork is just wicked....and bloody impressive. I think that I do not exaggerate, when I say, that you are the most skilled artist I know. Even if you say, that it should look unfinished, it looks wonderful and so damn detailled. The effect of awkwardness and discomfort is almost feelable. Even with an awesome place like that. I would love to have got a window like that too. A place to sit and watch, a place to relax, to read and sleep. The contrast between such a place and nightmares/discomfort gives this picture a special touch. The details on the scenery are once again fantastic but even if the time this picture was done is long past, I kinda feel sympathy for Bagheera and hope that these nightmares are finally gone nowadays and that this picture was a help. I think that it is awesome and really nice to see how you take care of each other....
