i had to sacrifice a lot of detail in order to not crash my computer :( it’s mostly noticeable in the face.

There is a reduce brush, try to use it on places where you don't need much detail, like on the long feathers of the wings or on the back for example. It will keep the overall shape of the model but without a lot of unnecessary triangles.

I know, I have to use it regularly to keep my computer from slowing down. In this case I used reduced selected too often and didn't realize it simplified the details on the face until they were almost completely gone.
