Seven and a half hours of 3DSing to draw this and now seeing it on my laptop screen... Probably my best picture yet, but... Still feels unfinished and inadequate... BUT dat booty tho~ Best dragon booty I've ever drawn.

Well, I think perhaps playing with higher contrast shading and actually shading the scales individually would make this feel more finished to you-- high contrast shading is something a lot of artists struggle with cos it's scary, but it helps make things stand out more and gives things more volume and dimension. Hope that's helpful.

Yeah I see what you're saying. I'll def's give that a try, and play around with that idea, thanks! Just... Soooo many scales lol. Glad you like those clouds, I was worried they'd be a bit too odd, but I like 'em too! Using a 3DS to draw with, I don't have that security blanket of features that Photoshop has.
Yeah; if you go ultra detailed tho you have to go full-ball else it looks half-arsed/flat, so you'd need to shade each individual one. Alternatively you can paint only a few of them, where light hits; details tend to get lost to shadows anywho. If you add high contrast shadows to stuff it actually lets you get away with skimping on a lot of details. It's little things like this which lets me draw really quickly and still produce polished looking work. Shortcuts!
