Broiled Crab Cakes with a Creamy, Dill Sauce and Sautéed Green Beans
((Crab Cakes are one of the most classic recipes you can make for a dinner party. Especially if you have an Ocean theme. They can be an appetizer or the star of the show. What’s even better about Crab Cakes is they are super quick and easy to make, but look and taste amazing!))
**Easy Difficulty**
Serves: 2 to 3 as an Entrée or 6 as Appetizers
***************For Crab Cakes:***************
1 lbs / 0.5 kg Crab Meat (If using Canned, drain all liquid. You can use lump or mixed variety)
1 cup / 170 g plain Crackers, crushed (You can use Saltines or Ritz. I used Saltines)
¼ cup / 45 g Mayonnaise
½ cup / 85 g Bell Peppers, small dice, (Use both Red and Green to get a prettier Crab Cake! :3 )
¼ cup / 50 g Scallions, thin slice
1 tsp / 5 g Garlic Powder
1 tsp / 5 g Cajun Seasoning
1 tsp / 5 g Salt
1 tsp / 5 ml Worcestershire
1 tsp / 5 ml Honey Brown Mustard
2 tsp / 10 ml Lemon Juice
1 Tbsp / 15 ml White Wine (optional)
***********************************************
=============For Creamy Dill Sauce:==============
1 cup / 170 g Mayonnaise
½ cup / 85 g Fresh Dill, Minced
1 tsp / 5 g Garlic Powder
4 Tbsp / 60 ml Lemon Juice
1 tsp / 5 g Lemon Zest
Salt to Taste
White Pepper to Taste
==========================
Green Beans (Optional)
½ lbs / 225 g Green Beans, stems removed
3 Tbsp / 45 ml Butter, melted
1 Tbsp / 15 g Fresh Garlic, minced
Salt to Taste
(optional) Dandelion Greens, Lemon Wedges, and Diced Scallions as plate Garnish
1.) In a large bowl, mix all the ingredients for the Crab Cakes together (All Ingredients in the Stars). Set in Fridge for 10 min to marry flavors and to firm up mixture.
2.) In a medium bowl, mix all ingredients for the Dill Sauce together. Set in Fridge to keep chilled and to thicken.
3.) Grease an oven pan lined with foil, and turn on the broiler to preheat. Then remove the Crab Cake Mixture and create 6 cake patties by hand. Place Crab Cakes onto greased Oven Pan and place Crab cakes in the oven under the Broiler for 7 to 8 min. Then remove from oven to flip each Crab Cake over. Place Crab Cakes back under the Broiler for an additional 7 to 8 min until golden (Light charring may occur).
4.) As an Optional side dish if this recipe is used as an Entrée, Green Beans sauteed in butter make an excellent accompaniment. In a pan set on the stove at medium high heat, add in butter. Add in Garlic and brown lightly. Add in Green Beans and Sautee until al dente. Season with salt to taste.
5.) Arrange Dandelion Greens on plate and place Crab Cakes on top. Set Green Beans on the side. Then Spoon some Creamy Dill Sauce into a ramekin and set on plate with Lemon Wedges. Garnish with diced Scallions and serve!
Extra Info:
I love a simple recipe with complex flavors. Maybe I’m just getting lazy in my old age when it comes to dinner parties, or maybe I’m just working smarter? Who knows? All I can say is that for me, not all recipes have to have complex steps to have complex flavors. This recipe is easy because you take all the ingredients for the crab cakes, mix it in a bowl, and make patty cakes out of them. There. Done and ready for the broiler. When the Crab Cakes are done, they’ll taste amazing, especially with that Dill Sauce, and a nice glass of white wine.
I did use some White Wine in the Crab Cake recipe. It’s completely optional for you. My friends and I just happen to have a couple bottles of Pinot Grigio opened so I just took the bottle and poured in about a Tablespoon into the mix for some depth. I love cooking with Wine. Just a Tablespoon in most recipes will do. Wine gives such a unique flavor to dishes that you can’t mimic very well using other ingredients. Here’s a nice rule of thumb when cooking with Wine. It’s best to serve the same exact Wine to your guests as the Wine you used in the recipe you just cooked. It’ll bridge the flavors so well, you’ll cry tears of joy. I hope you liked this fast, easy and yummy recipe! Happy Eating![/color]

Thanks. And Oh? The fonts with colors are hard to read? Hmmm... I'll have to change the colors then. I used "Pink" and "Lightgreen" for the coding. I'll experiment with different colors. I'm currently using FA's Dark Grey Skin so they show up fine with me. I'm guessing you're using the Lighter Skin? Ether way, Thank you so much for telling me! I'll definitely change them because I don't want the Lighter FA Skin users to feel left out. XD
