Technically this is against the TOS, I believe, and others have told me it can result in the image getting deleted by the admins...but that's completely assuming that they notice in the first place, because I had one of my images done like that for two years, and they never nailed me for it.
Originally, when I first found your work here and started going through your gallery, I really did NOT like the eyeless masks.
Now though, I actually like them more than the toony heads for most suits. I like that you can actually see moving eyes, not a wandering stuffed animal with no facial expression.
In fact I REALLY like your red monster-like costume where the mask is two pieces (upper and lower). Can you easily move your mouth for more expression with that form as well?

I love this explanation. At first, although I loved your heads when I first saw them, the "use your own eyes" concept creeped me out. It seemed unnatural. But as of recently I've begun to understand that your masks are kind of like prosthetics that really allow yourself to be immersed into the character, not just wearing a mask that hides your face. After understanding this, and even though I'm a suit maker myself and I promised myself I would do whatever I could to make my own costumes (or at least attempt to), I'm determined to get at least a head from you.
Nice! I'm surprised that many folks are that confused by it. Okay, maybe not that surprised... While "use your own eyes" style masks are usually not the look I prefer, I do love seeing what you create. Your talent and craftsmanship are outstanding! Beyond that I very much support your right as an artist to create things in the form and style that you desire your work to reflect!
I've been saying the same thing for a while now, these kinds of costumes are in a completely different category to traditional fursuits.
With regular suits, you usually have to rely on miming and gesturing in order to portray any sort of emotion, essentially hiding yourself behind the character.
With use-your-own-eyes suits, you still retain your facial expressions to some extent (especially with a moving jaw too) and it really blurs the gap between you and the character you are portraying.
Not to mention you get a much bigger field of vision with these. x3

*applauds*
I love your work, and for me I AM the character, it is part of me. Not a puppet I control, not something to hide behind. Other fur suits are good, most are very detailed and well done, they just aren't for me. I'm glad I found you and your style of art, just wish I could afford it :P In these times, very few of us aren't broke, but I won't go into economics, no one wants to be reminded of it.
Again, love your work, and your style and I always look forward to seeing your new stuff.

I love your work and respect your decision to create this style of mask. It's an aesthetic choice.
Personally I find human eyes much, much too small for most animal heads, which can create a creepy vibe sometimes. Asian circle lenses and makeup can help, but it usually falls short of natural. That's why I work the way I do - with more realistic airbrushing but cutesy proportions including huge acrylic eyes.
Whether I like it or not though, it's your decision to make masks are you please. If they don't like it, they can move on.

For the longest time I was a fan of your work except for the fact that you didn't put glass eyes in. I thought it made the eyes look disproportionally small compared to the rest of the face.
But the mask that really changed my mind was the hedgehog mask! It is really stunning, and seriously made me rethink if I ever got a commission what I would like it to look like.
Keep up the awesome work :>

I'll be honest, before I found your heads, a lot of furry masks/heads/suits really, really freaked me out. I strongly dislike "toony" looks, and in general am disinterested in unrealistic costumes. A lot of it is and always has been the eyes--among other things--and until I found your art, I never once even jokingly considered getting a fursuit partial or head of any kind. The idea was always kind of laughable; something other people do, and good on them for doing something they enjoy, but nothing that I would ever do.
Then I found your heads and all of that went right out the window, because your art is beautiful and realistic and an elegant combination of human and--whatever it is--and it's not restrictive and bulky and doesn't limit your range of vision...
Basically, it's everything I would want in this kind of a mask, and now my only regret is that I'm essentially blind without my glasses (I can avoid running into something if it moves, or there's enough color contrast between it and the floor/walls that I can't help but seeing that big brown blob...) and they cannot fit on or in your masks. xD
SO, now, your masks have become a motivator/reward for me: whenever I get the courage to get lasik surgery, I'll order one of your masks on your next opening. :)
By the way---LOVE your work. It's beautiful, and I always enjoy seeing when you post something new!

Completely the same here Seneschal13, glad I'm not the only one that freaked me out. I use to do my best to avoid getting near most in fursuits because the eyes creeped me out. Have gotten over that but still prefer real eyes not "The cold soulless eyes that haunt my nightmares" ;)
LOL, Wow I know exactly how that is. I got called a "Bad Furry" because the cartoony ones freaked me out. So glad I'm not the only one. I remember one time one of the very cartoony suiters came up behind me and gave me a surprised hug just as I was turning around... totally screamed like a little girl as embarrassing as it is to admit it. Played it off like he startled me and then "Power Walked" away to someplace safe:P
I absolutely love your work and the fact that you do your masks this way makes them TOTALLY unique. They are one of a kind and I can't tell you how much my friend gets when he wears his! Its outrageous! :) never ever stop doing these the way you do them - they are magnificent!!
I'll admit that I still don't really like 'use your own eyes' masks, just because it looks really disconcerting to me, just because human eyes are rather small in comparison to most animal eyes and so it's itty bitty little eyeballs on a comparitively huge head! But your masks themselves and the craftsmanship that go into them are so fantastic I can't not watch you. ;;
I don't even know if you do commissions at all but were someone to request glass eyes on a commission would you be willing to ever do that or is it use-your-own-eyes all the time?

Yea, I have been watching you for a while and at one point I think you would have done taxidermy eyes. (Possibly, it has been a while) so I am well aware of why you do what you do from when you said you would no longer do them and would do "use your own" only.
I think they can look a bit odd at times but can work really well at times, it just depends on the costume and how it fits the user. I don't think I've seen any other use your own maker achieve as good a result as you have but to be honest I couldn't name another maker that does these.
I can see why people find it weird or not like it but that is because its different and as Yul Brenner says on Cool Runnings. "Were different. People are always afraid of whats different"
I would consider getting one from you if I ever did get a fur suit apart from 1 problem. I wear glasses and I'm not sure if that would be possible. I could of course wear contacts but I would like eye colour changing ones and I don't think they do prescription ones.
