I would say in a more zoomed out piece like this they wouldn't be apparent enough even in the natural world to notice. Also, spiracles are often on the intersection between the sternites and tergites, so more on the lower side rather then underside. For example, the spiracles that are most apparent on this wasp photo is those on the thorax, were as the abdomen spiracles are still visible but less noticeable: http://www.maine.gov/dacf/php/gotpe.....r-wasp-big.jpg. Not to mention that realistically, if a wasp was to actually wear a jacket like that his brain would be significantly deprived of oxygen and suffocate, most of the tracheal pathways attached to the thoracic spiracles X3.
Speaking personally, that is the first, anthropomorphic insect character that I have ever seen that DID NOT MAKE Me want to run away because of all the sharp, pointy, spiky or what have you bits that might otherwise adorn his or her body.
it's simply an INCREDIBLE piece of detailed work hon. he REALLY IS. he is both soft and easy to the eyes, his lines connect wonderfully in a smooth flow and he's rather marvelously gentle in appearance.
BRAVO hon.. BRAVO!!
