Rita is my pet Senegal Parrot ... she's somewhere almost 2 years old now and has been with me since June 2012.
I figured I wanted to share a photo of her with you all! It's not easy to get pictures of her - she's terrified of anything approximately phone-shaped for some reason and freaks out and runs away when I bring my phone out. I'll try and update with a better photo soon~
She likes to chew things. EVERYTHING. She's very adorable though, and loves to talk to us. Especially when we eat - she comes over to the edge of the cage and talks until we give her beans or spaghetti :I

Hmmm that's a good idea for the reason behind it ... though it's anything a similar size. Like even remote controls for the TV, or a spoon. Anything that sort of size.
And yeah she was hand reared ... she's really lovely and really enjoys a chat. When I walk up to her she'll often put her head down for me to scratch it, or whistle a tune that I whistle back. Or sometimes even the other way around. She can be rather bitchy if she wants to be ... and she likes to throw her own little 'hissy fits' occasionally. One time she was trying to eat some flowers out of a vase, and when I put my hand in the way on just said 'No rita...' She turned around and yelled 'NO' back. It was quite funny because she had never said it before ... but wow she can get angry pretty fast xD

My cockatoo is at that mature age where she is only interested in male people.. and she can be bitchy towards me because I tend to "ruin" her moments with them by pealing her off my brothers..
Grace is afraid of skateboards (ive no idea why) and generally large long objects, sometimes benches outside.
She absolutely hates lawn mowers and will distress call in her cage if we have to mow outside in the summer.
She is pretty good about being shown that something is not scary. I tend to tap it with my hand and try to pull her closer to touch it.
Some fears are instinctual and others can be fearful situations from when they were young. A good example is the parakeets I own come from the store I work at and some people use a net to catch them, thus causing a huge fear at the sight of the net.
Graces hates towels, scissors, and nail clippers Px

Rita likes to chew on people's ears too - especially my male cousins. It's rather amusing ... she also tries to regurgitate food to me a lot. THAT is pretty gross!
Oh wow that's good that you can show her it's not scary. If Rita's afraid of something ... she's afraid of it full stop!
Oh wow that's such a shame ... making them scared of things by mis-treating ):
Rita also loves little plastic cat balls with bells in them ... but she chews them to pieces within a day of me putting it in her cage.
And I just realised the photo is sideways. I have NO idea why ... it's the right was around on my DeviantART!
