You don't "need" to drill holes in good RAM, you just need to find some 30-pin 8-bit RAM, as they have holes on each side due to their mounting style. I happened to have 8 of them when he wanted something for an earring, and I only needed 7 of them (I use one for a keychain charm, and the other six will likely dangle from the head of my guitar at shows if I ever start playing live).
