One month ago, I'd posted an excerpt from "Icon Take It Or Leave It" - a gag (I'd drawn back in 1992) featuring 'Zonie' the coyote (a character by the late Michael-Scot McMurry).
In order to get the feel of drawing that water-logged canid, I'd done an earlier rendering of the coyote from the cocktail glass I'd acquired from the T.G.I Friday's in Reading, PA (where I was living at the time). This rough sketch (done entirely in pencil) depicts a sort of "Before and After" shot, involving the original model of T.G.I.F. glass. The left image find the coyote model the way he SHOULD look - with that huge funnel in his mouth. And the right image shows what can happen when the coyote is constantly consuming the rain water, in order to keep the funnel from overflowing.
I was going to add color to this image, but I'd decided to pass on it. The coyote from the T.G.I.F. glass is purple and the bandana around his neck has red and white stripes. And I chose not to waste my time on adding all those hues. So... 'hues' your imagination! :-P
