A quick and dirty collage of my latest creation -- a gryphon soft sculpture/plush! This little lady took a long time (30ish hours?) She's made of faux fur and felt over a wire armature that's been padded and sculpted with polyfill and cotton gauze. Her talons, and beak are Apoxie Sculpt with acrylic paint and she has customized acrylic eyes. Rounding out the sculpture is a set of metal/leather cuffs and two metal earrings per ear.
The wire armature makes her quite poseable and you'll notice she can stand or sit easily. She's the first mixed media sculpture like this that I've attempted but I'm really happy with how she turned out. I will almost certainly make more in the future though I will probably keep this one. There's also a chance I may donate her to the Anthrocon charity auction.
I included the $2 for a size reference. She's a fairly small sculpt -- small enough to sit on a shoulder or bookshelf without trouble.
Let me know what you think!

It's so great to see this finished! I remember being really impressed with the level of detail you had put into the talons, I'm so glad to see the final product. Hopefully I'll see her in the fur some day in the future. Maybe I'll have my shoulder mounted 'griffin' finished by then and they can hog the camera together.
Oh yeah! I forgot that you saw her so early on in the process! I'm pretty bad about putting things down and forgetting about them for literally years... I'm so glad I picked this one up again! Are you coming to AC this year? The Aviary is the charity so I will definitely be there with birds in tow... If you come, our gryphons can be friends!
Thanks so much for finding me on here! I still use DeviantArt periodically so you can find me there (although it's a different/older set of uploads from me) and I'm checking out Weasyl as well. Thanks again for spending time with me at the Aviary and taking the time to seek us out with the amazing portrait of Isis! I'm sure we'll be in touch -- especially since I'm planning on making a green magpie fursuit (feathersuit?) partial for next year. I've gotta do it and you've got the THE best bird/birdlike suit masks so I'll likely have some questions for you! Take care!
