so this is one of my Favorite boss fights in video games.
the music, the challenge, especially how creepy this guy looks
when you fight him.
this image took about roughly 10-12 hours,
so, I'm getting more patient with my images.
I really tried keeping to those old Sega Genesis
styles of cover art.
and to help out this image a little more:

Those goggles on him could even remind one of one of Elton John's outrageous glasses.

well,
I started streaming it, but then
I kept at it off and on and thought,
this would be hard to keep 4-6 hour stream
sessions and most of the time would involve
me getting up to cook or forgetting that I'm
drawing.
I'm very casual when I draw and nothing is
ever very orderly when I do a project.
but really it's all a matter of learning how to use the
brush density in SAI, that's really all it is.

Hell even the Japanese version had extras added in- ....and let's not forget the music.

If I had more talent and better playing skills I would do this in a heartbeat! XD

I think the giant robot Sparkster was always so creepy looking,
I mean it was cool, but just a bunch of steam pipes and wires
in and out of all of the wrong places on that thing, the first
time I saw it I didn't realize it was suppose to be Sparkster,
and then when I did see...wow...creepy awesome.

whoops, I think it was the second sparkster game:

still weird....and also kinda cool.

Yeah, I remember that one two. Kind of like the Pig Boxing robots in Adventures

yea, I felt like there wasn't much for him in konami's hands after
the new rocket knight was released on PS3,
that game seemed so unfinished and half assed, such a poor
excuse for such a creative and iconic character.
I'm sure he may have a good return someday, but you would
have to find a way to make a new element with his game mechanic,
that's most of what made that game so great for it's time, it
was trying something vastly different.
controlling him was almost like shooting pool, that's part of
the fun of rocket knight, if they want to get creative,
re-use this same element with a 3D environment or
come up with some more interesting ways to use this.
yea, everything about that first game was just perfect,
music, characters, plot, gameplay...all of it, sometimes
jewels just happen.
but the best part is I think he has aged like fine wine,
people do still go back to play his games and they're still fun.

True, the old game is brilliant and it's good more are playing but damn I wish konami would even acknowledge his existance even just once :(.
I had some great ideas for moves for sparkster and metroidvania style game for rka (still plays like rka one (arcade roots) and has an rpg element (upgrading spaksters rocket pack and swords, elemental swords, even thought of a new move recently where he rockets off the wall and causes structural damage at points, another one where sparkster stabs his sword into the ground, chargers rocket pack, hangs on to the sword and spins around and creates a rocket wheel attack that clears the area of a bigger group of enemies, even giving sparkster capoera style moves incorporated with his rocket pack would be cool.
I'm not a game designer sadly but I have plenty of ideas but meh, I even think sherry could make a good playable character as she uses magic, making her and sparksters gameplay very different.

Sounds like a fab idea you have
I am a graduate in games design and you got the right elements as all it takes to become a games designer is having imagination and quality game play that has its own style. Ideas is what begins foundations
If I had my own company which I will build up on eventually after I finish more training
I would hire you and you could work from home as a lot of video game and art companies do that these days.

I totally agree,
it's not all his fault though,
at least with Sparkster, even in the sequels people did
try although they didn't go over well there was at least
still heart put into them.
it mostly had to do with teams splitting up and licensing
going in all directions.
like I say,
Sparkster never turned bad, he just got a bit dissolved with time,
he's a character and theme with so much potential anyone could
pick him back up and make it awesome again.
but it would take heart,
unlike that weird ps3 game...it had an idea, but was
poorly executed.
