Well I think it matters. Weather or not this is an adult comic, I doubt it, we still would like to know the genders of your characters. You have to take into consideration that these are your vharacters, and this is the first time they are being seen. I personally would like to know what voice to put to each character, but others may want to know the specific gender of your character for a number of reasons. What if someone wanted to write a fanfiction or fanart for the comic. Or maybe someone just wants to know. Also, you should answer your fans wuestions appropriately. Thay guy ask what gender your characters were and you told him it doesnt matter. That doesnt answer his question at all. If anything, its kind of rude to avoid the question, especially on the assumption that hes asking you for erotic reasons when in fact he may just want to know.
These are just fictional characters. It really doesn't matter what gender they are. Gender is really subjective, and there are more than just 2 genders. I think it's okay for people to interpret the characters however they want. And anyway, if people can't tell that Sandy and Ria are both female by their names and pronouns used, as well as the way I draw them, then I don't really care, and they shouldn't put much concern into it either. Their genders have nothing to do with the story itself.
I'm not exactly sure how that is rude. The asker said it was hard to tell the gender of animals, and many of my watchers must feel the same way. I did not ignore their question, I told them it doesn't matter what gender they choose to interpret the characters. If I hadn't replied to them at all, then that would be disregarding their question. It would have been rude if I gave them the same paragraph I replied to you with, because that would have been imposing my views on them. And anyway, isn't that what you're doing right now? Imposing your views on me? I don't see how that is a bad thing. That's what people do on a daily basis. That's just life.
Also, as an androgynous person, I get the question "Are you a boy or a girl?" fairly frequently. It is annoying and I do wish people would stop caring so much about gender. I know that doesn't have much to do with answering DigiThing's question, but I hope that helps you see where I'm coming from.
