The full moon dance was a time-honored tradition for the city. Since the moon meant a lot to the anthros of the city; either because they were canine and had developed a habit of howling at it, or because they were feline and appreciated the mystique of the glowing orb in the sky or they were just the type of anthro that appreciated the night-life. For whatever reason, the city had become something of a gathering point for many an anthro who wanted to enjoy a dance and an excuse to be fancy.
It was one of the reasons that Nathan liked to stop by here. With his new glasses shimmering slightly in the pale moonlight and the slightly over the top suit that he'd asked the girls to make for him looking like he'd just stepped out of a miles tall story book, the currently megamacro anthro absol sat on the side of a mountain and waited for his partner.
Since both of his owners/girlfriends only theoretically owned clothing of any sort of clothing, he'd opted to invite someone else.
A twinkling in the sky caused him to look up into the sky and he smiled. "Right on time." He smiled as he pulled an impossibly large pocket watch out of his vest and flipped it open to make sure he was right. Literally 8:30 on the dot; seemed she was good about her punctuality.
He stood up, brushed his clothing to smooth it, then bowed to the equally massive flareon: August.
The Araltyan had been hesitant to come to a world of smaller species, but Nathan had talked her into it eventually; promising her that the inhabitants of the world were perfectly happy to welcome her to their world, no matter the size-difference. It had eventually taken a face to face invitation from the mayor of the city hosting the ball (and the mayors from the surrounding cities) to convince her that this was alright. After that, she ended up accepting and now stood before him, dressed to match his own fanciness, with a red dress that wouldn't have looked out of place on a princess.
"Shall we dance?" Nathan bowed with great flourish in greeting, actually going the extra mile and kissing the back of her hand.
August giggled at the cheesiness of the whole performance, but nodded none the less. "Okay, let's do this."
As it turned out, there were some difference between terrestrial ballroom dancing and Araltyan ballroom dancing. It caused Nathan no end of embarrassment when he tried to imitate August, only for her to stop him and say that he was dancing the female part. Eventually, they settled on something that was a little bit of both; according to August, it was still heavily borrowing from the female part of her world's dance, but Nathan didn't mind so much anymore. He was dancing with August, and he was enjoying it no matter how silly he looked doing it.
The night wore on, with the music varying almost the entire time and Nathan finally getting August to dance to one of the more upbeat songs, despite her worries about the cities under their paws. They were fine, as Nathan knew they would be; he'd purposely asked that the girls bestow some goddesshax on August for the night, just to make her dancing easier. He hadn't told her, because he doubted she would believe him, but the little demonstration had made her loosen up considerably. She now wasn't gingerly walking around and was actually dancing with him to the music that was amplified via her bracelets for the two of them.
The two megamacros continued to dance through the night, the flareon no longer afraid of unintentionally harming someone and the absol just enjoying the chance to dance with her. All in all, by any measure, it was a very good night.
A story ideas as suggested by VDO to Absol in one of his streams. Absol is a big (no pun intended) fan of well dressed macros. So an anthropomorphic Absol decides to ask August out a little dance date.
