7. Are you getting enough water? Do you have circulation in your limbs? If not, scream and call for help!
Now, move onto the upper body after you finish the 2+ layers on the legs. Start by wrapping up the torso up to the neck. Paper towels will come in handy to pad the neckline if your shirt doesn't go high enough. After wrapping the body, begin the arms by working from the shoulder down, and the wrist up, leaving the elbow for last. This model is missing an arm at the moment, but you should make sure you do both arms. Finish the arms by taping up the elbow. Your arm is best if the elbow is locked (not bent) and as straight out to the side as possible (it helps to find something to rest your arm on). Make sure you get 2 layers on the body and arms to ensure stability! (Remember, 3 layers if you are using 'Duck' brand!)
8. Time to draw silly things all over your mummy's body! Okay, this si not a good idea, because it can affect the way the maker needs to work with the dummy. What you do need to do is draw lines and mark those lines with 'X', 'O', or squares. Any other symbol will just mess up the suit-maker as they try to put it back together. Lines shuold be drawn from the neck line down the front of the chest, running over the nipples and straight down past the largest area of your belly area (or for girls, hips!). From the side of the neck shuold be another line on top of the arm, all the way down to the wrist. Another set of lines should be made from about 5-7 inches below your armpit all the way down to your ankle on the side of your body.
Last, draw a line across where your belt line lays, and where you think the center of your back is (this marks your tail placement.. heh heh, tail hole).
At this point, you are probably tired of being groped, taped, and stuck the wall or family cat. You are ready to get out, and your helpers are ready to see you naked! (You did put on underwear, right?)
Now take your surgical scissors (or normal scissors if you are brave) and have your helpers begin cutting you out. A good place to start is your wrists, just follow the lines you marked.
During this time, communication is very important! Move slowly, and ask your mummy often- "Are you okay? Am I poking your skin? Are you bleeding?" This makes them feel comfortable, and makes sure you don't need to rush them to the hospital to get stitches.
After releasing the arms, you can work on the chest or the legs, whichever area of skin is needed to get air first.
Important Note! You may not need to cut out ALL the lines, your model may be able to escape from his/her Duct-Tape shell after only a few lines are cut, or only a portion. If this is the case, just stop there and release your mummy. (Come on now, you've had your fun for the past hour or so, it's time to let it go.)
At this point, you are free from the Dummy! Streak to the nearest secluded area (bathroom, bedroom, or closet if you haven't already come out of it) and shed your Duct-Tape shell.
By all means, don't pack it in the box right away. let it air out, you probably sweated in it quite a bit. Some air freshener or perfume might help your dummy smell better.
Take a good look at the busted DTD picture. This is what can happen if-
A. You only do one layer of tape.
B. You don't tape the jointed areas well enough (lower back and armpits/shoulders in this case).
C. Spontaneous combustion. This cannot be avoided, but there are no recorded cases of this occurrence yet.
Now you are all excited and have shipped off your box to your maker!
Keep in mind, sometimes the maker needs the DTD a few months in advance of when they actually start working on it, so have some patience, eat that pizza bribery with your helpers, make sure you have your wallet, and relax as you wait it out for your brand new fursuit!
No, you cannot have Sparkle's fish-bone boxers.

Usually, these are DTD's to be sent to your fursuit maker, as most maker's prefer to have a plain dummy to work off of.
If you are making your own, you could make this style of DTD first, then add the Digitigrade padding after you take it off and re-stuff it,
or you could tape the digitigrade legs into the DTD, as you mentioned. It's really up to you!
