[Commission from: TheBeesKnees] Plips, drips and clicks
He exhaled, greeted by the warm mist of breath as it caught on the contrast of the cold outdoors, fur bristling as pleasant chill swept in and tickled at his skin. It was the end of January and Febuary was looming with its usual, ominous chill, that time of year again. However he warmly welcomed such a change, a cozy season of warm indoors, warmer drink and yet warmer company. Such was the thought that his lips curled into a smile even as the crisp air touched them and with that smile he looked out of the opening doors and into the highstreet, the soft and muffled clatter of raindrops, delighting his ears. Dropplets throwing themselves willingly to the cobble of the path with reckless abaddon, their thrilling journey of freefall ending with satisfying plips, drips and clicks against the paving.
A gentle and fluid motion, and an umbrella was errected, the soft metalic slide and fwumph of the opening canopy giving him a comfort. His scarf was already around his neck, he was prepared for the rain, and goading its inevitable assault, he steped out. His eyes closed as he took in nature's orchestra. Taking a deep breath of fresh, rain saturated air, taking a moment as if the harmony of sounds had come together strictly on his behalf. The soft hollow clop of his hoof upon cobble, the rain in its muffled and rehersed din around him, combined with its new fustration as it tried to pass his umbrella. Alongside the bustle of a town centre on a saturday afternoon, it was his own little version of a private symphony.
As his eyes opened, he took in the sights, a notorious and chronic 'people watcher' (Quite possibly a british trait) he took further pleasure in the various happenings around the reletivly small area. A couple caught in the rain unawares, hurtled down the street without any shortage of glee and excitment. A number of others, more prepared for british weather, had already put up their own Brollies and were walking at varying paces through the place. A woman, busness like and brisk, sported a red scarf atop a work shirt and blaser, although her work skirt and heels looked dredfuly unhelpful in such conditions. A man, fumbling in his pockets looked in stark contrast, completley at ease, glancing nochelatly ahead.
With his own umbrella above him, the dull orange hue of light illuminating him, he abandoned those huddling under the outcropped roof of the store he had just vacated, and unhindered, progressed up the street, he began to apreciate the crisp, rain filled air as it tickled his nose, amused by the breah caught in sight. As if he had not noticed it had eluded him many times before.
It was then a coffee shop caught his eye, one of his favorites. It was not so much te shop that drew his attention, he knew it well, and its sight instantly diverted him towards the front, wide window. But the door had recently been exited and the waft of coffee and coco had been almost blissful. As much as he enjoyed the rain, perhaps it could wait a few minutes longer.
