:3 Same, DeNola is one of my favorite characters (although again I gotta point out her feet aren't digigrade and she wears boots x3).

I'm part Turkish yes, 3/8, my father is born in Aleppo in Syria, his parents were from there too, but both of his dad's parents are Turkish, and his mother's mother is Turkish as well(his mother's father is from Kosovo). And yeah the Ottoman Empire is one of my favorite civilizations, along with Muslim Spain(aka Al-Andalus). The Turkish parts of my family come from Adana and Izmir respectively.
I wouldn't know, I had no idea what unit he was in, which front he fought on, Turkey during WWI fought in Gallipoli in 1915-1916, and fought the Russians in Eastern Anatolia, the British in Palestine/Syria, and Iraq, and also they sent an expeditionary force to Galicia to help the Austro-Hungarians, along with helping defeat Romania, and even Macedonia against the Greeks, Turkey fought on several fronts and lasted for four years even though they were unprepared for war and were still hurting after the First Balkan war yet held on.
Well the turks, as well as many other peoples in the world, generally aren't as recognized for their achievements and martial prowess. Instead Spartans and Samurai are over-glorified to the point of absurdity, the chivalrous Knight is the epitome of all that was 'great' about Europe in the middle ages namely making sure peasants paid taxes, like the Samurai did, or took all the limelight away from the 'lowly' Man-At-Arms for themeselves. Not always the case mind ya, but by and large it was. Meanwhile the Mongols are scene as hideous, nearly demonic scourges of the earth (which I'll admit their PR system could've used..ALOT of work), the Persians are seen as gold obsessed freaks, and of course the entirety of Eastern Europe is seen as either Borat, Chekov, or Vlad the Impaler. *facepalm* Sometimes I really hate western historians, but I've come to look at both sides of the fence on these matters. In the end, it's just people being people.
