Got it to work yay!

FA takes transparency, you just have to mind the 1280x1280 limit. If your image is bigger than 1280x1280, what you need to do is this:

Post the image you want.
Once posted, click "Change Submission File"
Put in the same exact image and hit the "Submit" button.

And there you have it! The first time you revisit the image it might have gone back, but if you hit F5/refresh, it'll be full sized again.
