Hello, I'm here to answer your request for critique.
First, let me give a breakdown of its good points.
1. The anatomy of the hyena focal characters is robust and well-proportioned. I had expected their bellies to be rather leaner than what's given but I'll just assume they're well-fed or it's stylized, since it's not a negative factor.
2. If intimidating your audience was your goal, then you've certainly succeded. They seem to be coming right at me, snarling viciously with glowing eyes baring their fangs. It just pops out at the viewer. The added blood effects certainly help.
3. Their heads are very well-detailed and easily recognizable as Hyenas, even without the tags. Liberties aside, and my own lack of knowledge of the animals I dare say you did a great job drawing their faces as well.
and now, critique!
1. The background is dull, flat, and overall uninteresting. The flames appear solid and rigid, with muted colors and there's no light whatsoever coming from the flames, which is to be expected from something that would be a prominent light source in the image. Bright Red and orange hightlights would come around the edges of the character's figures, with the points furthest away from the light (which will either be their front if the flames are only behind them, or not at all if they're completely surrounded.)
While I don't know the context of the image, I'll make a leap and say that they're supposed to be engulfed in a massive flame, a forest fire maybe? Your tags have woods in them which is what made me come to this assaumption. If this was the case, the flames would light up the sky as well while clouding it with smoke. We'd also see trees that are on fire as well, as the characters seem to be in close proximity to the flames.
2. The glow is more or less a simple circle with some streaks, and are rather muted and flat. They should be in fact much brighter to contrast more with the far darker characters, while conforming to the shape of their eyes. It should also be much brighter at the center of their eyes, since that too is also a lightsource, fading out as it moves further away from the lightsource.
3. Overall, the entire image is very low in contrast. It's extreme dark, which is even more jarring and non-sensical because they are surrounded by flames, which again is a prominent light source in the image. Brighten up the flames and make the shades more distinct between each other. There is something as too much soft shading, especially for such a dynamic and energetic image.
To sum it up
+Great robust feral bodies, very appealing.
+Scary, with a lot of pop and good use of foreshortening.
+The character's species is easily identifiable and for the most part accurate.
-Background is flat, lacking vibrancy and life.
-Flames are dull and not being recognized as a light source. Eye glow is underwhelming.
-The overall composition is very dark, lacking contrast between shades which are too soft.
Hopefully you found this information to be useful. Take care, and good luck!
