I'm ridiculously big on anything New Zealand; people, art, language, symbols, natives, etc..
May be moved to scraps later.
I know it's sketchy, I know it's bright. If I had a tablet I'd be all over colouring this right now. But since I don't, this might be as far as this piece gets.
It's New Zealand inspired with all their typical symbols excluding the Silver Fern
Manaia: [in the corner] This is a popular symbol of a mythical bird-headed being called Manaia, a Maori spirit guardian and messenger of the gods. Te Manaia is depicted with the 3 basic elements, the head of a bird (sky), the body of a man (earth), and the tail of a fish (sea).
Hook: [first necklace on the left] For the indigenous people of New Zealand, the Hei-matau [the hook] represents strength, determination, peace, prosperity and good health and also provides safe journey over water.
Koru: [the sprial] The koru is one of the most recognized symbols from New Zealand. The Maori believed it to be a sign of new beginnings and growth. Ment to represent the early beginnings of a curled up fern before unfolding.
Twist pendant: This pendant is in the shape of the triple twist which represents a bonding of friendship, two lives becoming one for all eternity.
Again, if I had a tablet, this would definitely be coloured and pretty and guh.
