EPIC title, eh? :P I'd rather call this a I-don't-know dragon, cuz really I don't know what it is. X3
This is the drawing I made for my co-worker and good friend, Cathy. Due to going through hellish health problems, she's medically retiring. I'm not sure when her final day is, but I wanted to make her something. She's always been a joy to talk with, especially when it came to her funny books and mentionings of certain animes and mangas. I also learned much from her when it came to Wicca (her and I are both witches. Please no thinking of taboo thoughts). :)
Now to describe certain things about this dragon drawing.
The colours of the dragon itself are based on her soul colours and patterns. Before she got sick, her soul colours (or as some people call it, aura colours) used to consist of a lot of different greens and some blues, with a few other minor colours, like copper and red. Her pattern was the usual fuzzy block-shaped pattern I "see" in most people. Unfortunately going through her serious sickness, it's drastically changed her soul colours and pattern. While she still maintains the greens and blues, she no longer holds copper anymore and very little red. It's been changed to pink, red and purple, with her pattern all wavy and blotchy, no shape at all.
The first pair of wings signify her Irish heritage. She was born American, but has strong Irish blood in her.
The feathery wings are from a Gyrfalcon, a bird from Ireland. The third pair are the secondary pair of wings from a Speckled Wood Butterfly, another creature from Ireland. The antlers are from a Red Deer, a creature considered Ireland's national animal. I made them iridescent in colour.
The Moon signifies her horoscope, Cancer (which I should've drawn). The bell is a Wiccan symbol that drives away negative energy and attracts faeries when ringing.
The wand is for directing energy and inviting spirits.
The ball is suppose to be a ruby, which is Cathy's birthstone. The flower is Larkspur, her birthflower.
The cup or chalice represents the womb, the Goddess, the element of Water.
The broom is generally used for purification, to "sweep away" negativity from an area. To have the bristles upright will keep evil spirits from entering one's home (cuz the spirits would have to walk through the bristles)
The pentagram signifies all five elements, protection, and invocation. (I meant to colour it, but I guess I didn't. :P)
Please ignore any minor miscolourations or weirdness from different lighting. This was a large drawing and was scanned in pieces. Also ignore that the wings don't 100% look the same as the other. I have a hard time drawing the same thing twice.
Personally I feel like I've outdone myself. :) I definately love it.

Thank you! ^.-.^
Yeah, my co-worker friend has really helped me when I was first hired on. She was always fun to talk with, especially with anime and manga. I've never met a 50 year old woman who enjoys anime and manga as much as her children. It's obvious she's an awesome mother and friend. :3

Wow. It's not so much a mere picture, but the whole symbolic cartography experience !
It was rather interesting to apply all the meaning and Wiccan allegories in the description to the drawing - just like solving a puzzle of someone's personality.
Colours are magnificent - especially the blending points and smooth tonal segue. In addition to already being a great drawing(also meaning size - I've always marvelled at people who go through the trouble of fragmentary scanning), it would constitute a nead design for a dreamcatcher or whatever these shamany thingies are called. Anyway, it's very complex and ornate - let alone meaningful, and gorgeous as a present.
Yay you !

Thank you for the awesome comment. :D Yeah, I wanted this to symbolize my friend and her beliefs and origin. :) Instead of making some ordinary drawing, I wanted to make something really special, since she's always been a good friend of mine. :)
Hahah, I didn't think about that (the dreamcatcher thing). :P That would be a cool idea. Even better if this could be turned into a suncatcher. :3
