Double Trouble and I put our heads together to try and figure out what some of the past MLP villains would look like in the universe of Friendship is Magic (we felt like it would be boring to think they'd still have the same designs and personalities, considering that in this universe the ponies aren't freaking pushovers).
Tirek didn't change all that much from his original design, but he seemed to fit the concept of a brute who swings a big hammer around, so we added some armor and a shield cutie-mark (because he had to have a butt-tattoo).
