It seems my recent Transformers-related art has been about the mixing of styles (with TF: Animated). There were the Beast Wars characters I did in the Animated style, and now this. I took the three Dinobots from Animated, designed and added two more (the two on the right side) to fit the dino lineup from G1, and presented it in an inking style based on the work of Derek Yaniger, who did "TF: Generation 2" comics for Marvel, with color design and print patterns from the good old days, when comic books looked like crap.
This piece won first place in the 'computer art' category at Botcon last weekend. Don't ask me why. Given the competition, I was honestly not expecting to win anything.

Yes that's right, Grimlock (center) is the same one as the toy in my earlier photo.
What I meant to say was, in the new cartoon series there are three Dinobots (T-rex, Triceratops, Pteranodon), while the original 'eighties toys and cartoon had two others (Apatosaurus, Stegosaurus). I added those two with my interpretation of what they might look like if they were in the current cartoon style.

Wow... excellent homage to both the G1 and the Animated Dinobots.

Hawkon .... screw you. Transformers Animated is the best series since Beast Wars and was just the thing to wash the taste of the Unicron Trilogy out of my mouth.
