I attended a university that was a 5+ hour drive from my home. There were a couple nights where I cried myself to sleep in that position in the hallway of my dorm. T.T It's OK to miss your home life. : )

Not odd at all. It's a big change and everyone experiences it differently.
However I suppose it is more common that "kids" can't wait to get away from their parents. x3
