I love Coyotes. I love them so much. I decided I wanted to try to do a Southwest inspired piece featuring one. I'm actually going to do a "dogs of the world" series and this is the first in it! Different wild canines representing different cultures.
I should have done more with the blanket...
I love Kokopelli. Two tricksters working together in this piece.
Nothing quite like not being able to sleep from mouth pain to get you motivated to work on a painting!
Also, I should have erased my mapping marks...you can see it right under the shadow of the mane-fur. See that circle? Yeah...that was me telling myself where to put the shading.
I think I might add more shading to the blanket. If I do, this will go in scraps.
medium - watercolor with a touch of colored pencil in the shadow of the blanket

That's really cool :3 My whole family is from the southwest but I've always had a northeast mentality. That's why I say I was born a desert rat but I"m a mountain dog at heart.
And thank you so much! I tried to have a nice open and warm feel to it! *hugs* thanks for the nice words!

You're an all natural badass when it comes to these watercolors. This looks really REALLY good. I think coyotes are pretty amazing creatures too. They're really smart hunters; even to the point that they walk on their tip toes. That and their strangely strong ability to be excellent swimmers.
Thank you! After uploading it I see some spots I'd like to go back and work on, but that'll be a later time :3 this piece was a lot of fun X3 Thank you!
I adore Coyotes. I didn't know that about the tip-toe thing, though o.o I knew they were smart as hell, however. They're always observing
