I don't normally get excited about seeing big name dj's/producers but I do in a tiny club, especially since most people would only see someone like him at a festival. Especially when I get to dance my ass off so close and watch him mix. He even walked the stage after his set and signed autographes/shook hands, said hi and thanks. Amazecraze.

Ah! Me too! When I was young and could totally dance all night and not feel like shit the next day.
I used to be involved in the So California rave scene but since I moved to Texas pretty much none of my friends have even been to a rave so I get to introduce cool people to cool things and it's really awesome. A friend of mine had her first roll at PVD last weekend, what a great place to be for a first, ya know? It felt really nice to give someone that experience and babysit.

Omg promoters! I used to call them the sewing circle. A bunch of hens clucking outside a venue. Everyone knows the parking lot is where the party is! I don't know what I really did, I guess I did a little bit of everything. Scouting, a dab of promoting, security, set up/tear down, water runs...mostly just raver herding and using the power of hugs and angry mom voice to stop gangsters from fighting.
I pretty much did that from 2003-2009. I could just never figure out a title for what I did, I was just kind of always there! Social director? I guess that's how I got the name Familliar. I was always around but people never really noticed me and always kind of recognized me. I worked for and was actually paid with real money *in some cases as much as the DJ's did* 4-5 different production companies but my main production company was called 1W1D. Events were never amazingly large, maybe average 400-1000 people and 2 or 3 6000-8000 events. Out in the middle of the desert, forests and warehouses.

I guess I've always been a little proud of what I did with raves because I was a single female not sleeping with random dudes for free drugs, I was actually working. I never dated ravers or crew.
Nowadays I work anime conventions. My darling boyfriend is the registration director at San Japan and Oni-Con and we do badge printing and various other printing services as well. I actually didn't even know he did conventions when I met him, it came up later. It's way more work than raves, I tell you what! Dj's aren't as good tho.
