...Wow.
This is...
brilliant. And here I thought I was a detail whore.
Wow. I was not expecting that much. The texturing is mind-blowing. Your thick, stylistic line art is always beautiful, but the detail within it in this piece is beyond comparison. I'm really amazing, holy crap---crazy stuff.
I have to echo Moonykins above. Delicious. I love that you went all-out with the concept. I've always wanted to play with merging serpent-scales with the character's short feline fur, but I could never find a way to intergrate it successful so that it would make sense and still appear aesthetically sound. For two elements that don't naturally coexist with each other, I'm amazed by how well you managed to blend those two elements together. The scales and texture blend together seamlessly. It looks natural.
I love this. You have a beautiful art style. I can't thank you enough for this. Thank you for putting so much effort into this piece; it shows clearly.
Also, I'm flattered by the remarks you made on my character's design. Thank you! I'm really glad you had fun with it. I'm always honored to hear that artists enjoy working with my ideas/personal characters.
Thank you again!

*is blushing GREATLY!*
I'm so, so glad you like this! I was almost... tempted to not try the scale concept, thinking it was only meant to have fur ..but in the end I obviously decided to just go with it, since you seemed keen on letting me ..er.. go crazy. XDD
This piece was the first time I attempted to combine thick, stylized brush strokes with tinytiny details. It actually turned out a lot better than I expected, you know? *laughs* The paper also really added to it, which I was glad for! I found this paper by accident.. And now I'm in love with it!
I do indeed adore your Avatar @__@ I can't really gush enough about the character... No amount of "OMG AWESOME" would do the concept justice, IMHO. BUH *FLAILS* Snakes and felines were meant to go together, I swear! And the demonic tail you mentioned.. Well, let me just say that I have a soft spot for tails like that. *chuckles*
The original should be arriving for you shortly, btw!

I always enjoy artistic interpretation. The character design has a set form (with all the specifics and physical characteristics nailed down), but I figure that's not much fun to work with, so I usually allow for the artist to play around with some basic character themes instead. It's neat to see how other's interpretation differs from your own.
I'm glad you ended up including the scales. The visual aesthetics worked out perfectly and the piece would have suffered with out them. I greatly enjoy the creative twists you made!
I hope you'll be doing more pieces in a similar style in the future. You have an imaginative use of line; it's refreshing.
I received the original in the mail this Monday (I apologize for not getting back to you sooner, I haven't been online much this week.) I'm overwhelmed by how intricate and detailed the piece is, how fine the lines are...it's even more impressive in person.
Haha, thank you again. Odd that you should mention the feline-serpent aspects go together well, since they are conflictive with each other in mythology and nature. But that's the nature of the character, to be contradictory. It does work out pretty well in the end.
Hee--- Again, a pleasure to provide you with appealing material. Maybe we could do a trade or something else in the future, if you'd like to work with the character again. I wouldn't mind letting you play around with it again, if that interests you. :]

Thank youuu! This was incredibly fun, I'm going to do a sketchbook raffle for INKED STUFF next, 'cause I looooove how this turned out. @0@ Plus it was super therapeutic.
THE PAPER! Ohgodyes. I love this paper. I was kind of bummed because when I went back to Michaels to get more of that petal-inclusion paper, I couldn't find any. Then I was told they no longer carry that kind. :C
So I went to the paper aisle and looked around. Then I did an about-face and FOUND THIS STUFF. It has such a gorgeous marble-look to it, plus the paper is super thick. Thicker than the petal-inclusion. ^__^ We can use markers on it real easy-like!! *purr*
Guess what else? Office Depot carries a nice HUGE set of prismacolor markers.. 48 of them, for a little over 100 dollars. I totally can't afford them right now rofl, but I thought you might be interested. XD That's WAY cheaper than what Reddi Arts was asking for, even with the huge sale going on. >__<
