Leo is the rebellious March Hare and former spy/assassin of the Red Queen. After having been captured along with the Mad Hatter long ago after he deserted the kingdom, he was used in an experiment that placed a strong concentration of madness within him, giving him phenomenal powers that in turn and through excessive use, could drive him to the point of no return, making him a weapon of mass destruction and possible tool for the Red Queen to utilize, even though he did escape along with the Mad Hatter.

It is Blanc's job to keep Leo in check, as his opposing power of order keeps his madness from taking hold, but with Blanc's powers failing, it would only be a matter of time before Leo would be lost.
